Vintage Bild Lilli Inspiration Doll Spanish Beauty. With a unique smile, bright eyes, delicate hands and characteristically round legs, these Spanish beauties are thought to be one of the dolls that inspired the original Bild Lilli.
The limbs are jointed and made of a composite material. She has a swivel waist, a definite foreshadowing of the Barbie twist waist that would follow many years later. Barbie expert, Billy Boy, writes about her considerable contribution to the modern fashion doll at Fondation Tanagra. It’s a great read.
I have had several of these over the years. Most always, they are dressed in traditional attire from various regions of Spain.
Normally, they come with a simple wire stand that inserts into holes in the bottom of the feet/shoes…a feature not unlike Lilli and the Number 1 Barbie.
